THIEVES stole an antique pistol from a stately home in Ryedale.

North Yorkshire Police said the gun was one of a pair of declassified English percussion pocket pistols, and was taken from Nunnington Hall some time between June 1 and June 16.

The pistol dates back to 1840, measures 7.8cm, and was stolen from the wall in the property’s Stone Hall.

Anyone who has been offered the pistol for sale or has information on its whereabouts is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two, and ask for PC Paul Fricker.

Alternatively, information can be emailed to paul.fricker@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
