THE wet weather threatened to make it a washout, but visitors still turned out to attend the 108th annual Farndale Show.

Despite the rain entries were as good as last year, according to show secretary Beryl Smith, and many visitors were even attending the show for the first time.

Beryl said: "It has been unfortunate about the weather. We can plan everything else but unfortunately we cannot plan that.

"However, we have still had a lot of really good entries similar to what we got last year. The support is always good as well so despite the weather it has still been a good day."

Eleanor and Kenneth Coombs were on holiday in the area from Northumberland for two weeks and were impressed with the show which they were attending for the first time.”

Eleanor said: "It's the third time we have been up here for a holiday this year. We love it and think that it's a lovely area even when it's raining.

"We like going to shows so when we heard about it we decided to come and visit it and we think it's a good show."
