A 70-YEAR-OLD man has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash on a North Yorkshire road.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called in to assist Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedics after the driver suffered a serious chest injury in the accident, which happened on the A167 near Northallerton at 11.15 am today.
An air ambulance spokesman said that once stabilised on the scene, the casualty was flown to the major trauma centre at James Cook hospital in eight minutes, receiving further specialist care during the flight. The man's condition on arrival was 'stable,' he added.
