A RYEDALE playgroup is celebrating being rated "good" following an Ofsted visit.
The Sheriff Hutton Preschool Playgroup has been established in the village for more than 45 years, but has recently moved from its former home in the village hall up to the school.
Among other things, Ofsted inspectors praised the staff's interaction with the children, the "welcoming and friendly environment", and the "good links with the adjoining primary school" and their work in partnership with teachers.
Molly Walford, the chairman of the playgroup committee, said: "This is our first visit since the move. I'm very pleased. It feels like a vital community service, and we want everyone to know we're here and doing a good job."
The playgroup meets in a self-contained classroom in the grounds of Sheriff Hutton Primary School. They have a garden area and also have use of the school field and playground.
