FUNDRAISERS have raised over £3,200 for the Alzheimer’s Society at an annual charity tractor run.

A convoy of 115 tractors from all over Ryedale and as far afield as West Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and Holderness followed the 36-mile route over the Wolds. The road run was organised by Paul and Helen Hudson, from Rillington.

Paul said: "We decided to support Alzheimer’s Society because we know more and more people in our community that have been affected by this illness.

"We had a great turn out once again and we would like to thank all of the landowners, family, friends and everyone who donated so generously to help to raise so much.

"It’s great to know that the donation will go to help support people to live well with dementia today and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow."

Julie Lee, community fundraiser at Alzheimer's Society, said: "We are delighted that Paul and Helen gave their time to support Alzheimer’s Society this year and that they had such a successful day.

"One in three people over 65 will die with dementia. It is caused by diseases of the brain and can happen to anyone.

"As a charity, we rely on the generosity of individuals like Paul and Helen who organise such brilliant events to help us continue our vital work.

"Thanks to Paul and Helen for their fundraising efforts and everyone who supported the event which will help Alzheimer's Society to continue leading the fight against dementia."
