COLLEAGUES at a Pickering care home have been given an award for their teamwork.
Staff at the Whitby Road elderly persons' home in Pickering have taken extra shifts, covering sickness absence and new roles in their stride, which has led to a win in the Working as a Team category in the county council's recent Health and Adult Services Staff Excellence Awards.
Deputy manager Amy Ball said the staff regularly received compliments from the family and friends of those in the home. She said: "The staff are chuffed to bits with the award. They have worked very hard and shown real dedication over the last year.
"Every aspect of the residents’ care has remained person-centred with the focus well and truly on the residents' needs and wishes."
Clare Wood, county councillor, said: "North Yorkshire has brilliant people working in adult social care and public health who are totally dedicated, motivated and professional. We could not deliver our excellent services without the outstanding contribution of our staff."
