OLD Malton St Mary's were knocked off the top of the premier division in a goal-laden day in the York Minster Engineering League.

The six top flight games included 40 goals with Old Malton held 4-4 at Copmanthorpe, allowing Riccall United to go top with a 6-4 win at York RI.

Defending champions Old Malton were involved in a titanic tussle at Copmanthorpe.

Ben Sheehan, Robin Bedford, Chris Story and Danny Leach were on target for the home side, but their haul was matched by efforts from Tom Fenwick (2), Simon Cooke and Danny Fogg.

Gary Lumley and Ian Beckram each scored twice for Riccall, while Gary Collier and Wayne Brook netted the other goals.

Terrington Glory lost out 2-1 at Osbaldwick.

Andrew Bilton and George Middleton gave Osbaldwick a comfortable lead, but a late Matty Bower goal gave the home side a nervous final few minutes.

Malton & Norton top the division one tale after a 6-1 win at York St John University.

In reserve 'B', third-placed Malton & Norton had a 0-0 stalemate with Hemingbrough.

Dave Thompson bagged a hat-trick as Brooklyn thrashed Heslington 7-1.

Jimmy Baxter (2), Ryan Gaughan and Martin Piercy completed the scoring.
