THE Hills proved too hard to conquer for Forge Valley 3rds in the Derwent Valley League on Saturday.

Steve Hill cracked 95 not out and fellow opener Pete Hill 55 not out to take their Flixton 3rds team to a 10-wicket win in division ‘A’.

Earlier, John Flinton had made an excellent unbeaten 109 for Forge Valley but John Sowden’s 3-12 restricted them to 154-6 - a target which proved gettable.

There were also high scorers at Kirkbymoorside, where Graham Jeminson made 80 not out and Andy Bayes 47 as the hosts racked up 203-5.

Simon Oxendale replied with 48 but his Lockton side were all out for 133, Jamie Harper claiming 5-30.

There was embarrassment for Sewerby 3rds as they were skittled for 16 at home by Sherburn 2nds, Jamie Thompson taking 6-11.

Rob Worthy (62) and Ben Ryan (42) had earlier taken Sherburn to 189-7.

Hospitals/Rugby Club were another side to suffer, being dismissed for 28 by Dave Stockdale (4-4) and Mark Holtby (5-13) to set up a 10-wicket win for Wold Newton 2nds.

Good bowling by Trevor Davies, Matthew Micklethwaite and James Brown - who all finished with identical figures of 3-8 - set up an eight-wicket win for Cayton 3rds in division ‘B’ as they bowled out Ganton 2nds for 66.

John Ellis claimed 6-31 as Snainton were all gone for 73, with Patrick Stephenson (33no) then taking Thornton Dale to an eight-wicket win.

Graham Shannon took a superb 6-15 as Scalby were dismissed for 118 in response to Wykeham 3rds’ 157-6 in which George Shannon hit 45.
