ENGLAND-bound Liam Plunkett wants to leave Yorkshire on a high and keep them on the road to Lord's with a floodlit Royal London One-Day Cup win over Essex at Chelmsford tomorrow.

The Vikings tackle the Eagles in the county's second successive quarter-final tie after last year's home defeat to eventual champions Durham.

On Monday, Plunkett was called up to England's squad for their forthcoming one-day series against Australia from next Thursday through to September 13.

The fast bowler is likely to miss two Championship matches against Somerset and Middlesex and possibly an RL50 semi-final at home to Gloucestershire or Hampshire on September 6-7 should Yorkshire get through.

Plunkett is confident they will, despite acknowledging the size of the task they face against an Essex side who were also beaten quarter-finalists last year.

"Chelmsford's a bit of a den and a fortress for them," said the 30-year-old, a winner in this competition with Durham in 2007. "But we've got a proper team, and I'd back us to go there and win.

"The guys are going really well in the one-dayers. We feel like we know our roles in the 50-over game, and we've stuck to our plans and competed. We have learnt skills through the year and got better.

"It's quite a small ground, but we have people who cover all bases. Jonny's back, Lythy as well. We're a strong team. We look forward to going there and putting a show on.

"If you can win two competitions in the year, you've set your stall out. We've improved in the white-ball stuff, and if we can take this into next year, it will be a quality year for us."

Plunkett has taken six wickets in five RL50 matches this season, including a best of 3-40 in his last outing against Durham at the start of the month.

"I feel in good rhythm now. I feel like I'm bowling decent pace and my skills are back," he added after a stop-start summer in all forms.
