LOVE Dreams made a big impression on his recent racecourse debut and is fancied to maintain his unbeaten record in the EBF Stallions Spindrifter Conditions Stakes at Pontefract.

Mark Johnston's youngster is smartly bred as a son of Dream Ahead out of a mare who has produced a few winners and it was no surprise to see him ranked among the leading contenders on his Hamilton introduction almost two weeks ago.

Like so many of the Middleham maestro's runners, Love Dreams was sent straight to the lead and was never headed, showing a willing attitude and plenty of talent to win with something to spare.

Johnston is enjoying a fine year with his two-year-olds, having already clocked up close to 40 juvenile winners in 2016, and this particular individual looks well above average.

Love Dreams is expected to make it two from two before going on to bigger and better things later in the year.

The main supporting race at the West Yorkshire circuit is the EBF Stallions Alan Mercer 60th Birthday Fillies' Handicap, in which Dutch Mist gets the nod.

The Kevin Ryan-trained filly struck gold three times last summer, before finding life a little tougher in better company in the second half of the season.

Early results this year were not too inspiring, but that did at least force the handicapper to relent and Dutch Mist took full advantage to regain winning ways over this course and distance three weeks ago, with the application of blinkers also aiding her cause.

She has been raised 3lb, but is not badly handicapped and with the forecast fast ground in her favour, she should go close again so long as the headgear works for a second time.

The Johnston stable can also extend its fine record at Musselburgh, with Sandown scorer Monticello an obvious candidate for the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes.

Like the aforementioned Love Dreams, this Teofilo colt made every post a winning on his first competitive appearance at Sandown earlier in the month.

That was a fair effort on such a stiff track and the less demanding nature of Musselburgh could actually suit him better.

He has to give weight all round on his second start, but should be up to the task and will take some pegging back on a track that suits horses ridden forcefully.

Conditions are expected to be testing at Windsor, which should bring out the best in Perceived in the William Shand Kydd Shuttlecock Handicap.

The four-year-old has hit the bullseye twice from 14 career starts, with those triumphs coming on soft and good to soft ground.

Henry Candy's charge has run well in defeat on sound surfaces the last twice, most recently finishing third at Salisbury.

They were always going a shade too quick for her that day and a return to soft terrain should bring about the improvement she needs to get back on the winning trail.

All-weather action comes from Wolverhampton, where James Tate's course winner Jive Time can be relied upon in the Racing Welfare Stable Staff Week Handicap in the hands of Adam Kirby.
